DIY: cheap, angry and stylishly refresh the toilet

Our grandfather's apartment has not seen renovation for about 20 years. And when there is no time for capital work, but you want to refresh the premises quickly and not for all the money –, pintrest comes to the rescue. The ideas that inspired are implemented with maximum pragmatism.

So, we decided to use self-adhesive panels for walls and floors, paint the ceiling and part of the wall with water-based paint, make small shelves and add a few bright accents.

First, we peeled off the old wallpaper, removed the homemade cabinet, unscrewed the panels to access the sewer pipes.

Since there were remnants of glue and preliminary paint on the walls, it was decided to walk over them with sandpaper with abrasive grain P80...P120. After that, we treated the surfaces on which we will glue 3d panels with imitation brickwork with a primer (the consumption was about one liter).

White color is always in trends. We chose the same one in order to visually add brightness to the toilet. We decided to use water-based paint for ease of operation, environmental friendliness, and drying speed. We had two kilograms enough to cover the walls and ceiling in three layers to a perfectly white color. We applied paint with a roller, walked through the corners and hard-to-reach places with a brush.

This was the discovery of the year for us. Panels measuring 40 by 40 cm, with a very strong adhesive base – is a brilliant thing. You can buy them at the conditional Epicenter, but we ordered them at the Chinese marketplace Temu. This is also a way to save money (and buy a normal water emulsion, not all that is unclear)). The panels are glued quickly, the main thing is to check the corner, ruler and caravan sometimes so that it does not turn out quite crooked.

Here we followed the previous path and ordered an imitation of marble floor tiles from the Chinese. But soft, something like linoleum. The solution is interesting and as budget-friendly as possible. The main thing before gluing is to wash the old coating very well. We also degreased the old tiles just in case.

After making a cabinet to order, we have 3 defective MDF boards left, from which we decided to make shelves. A handful of self-tapping screws, 6 corner holders – and shelves are ready. Fasten the wide one at chest level for quick access to everything you need, screw the two small ones asymmetrically at different levels. We use them for decoration.

A freshener in the form of a bottle with rattan sticks and vases with artificial plants – are exactly the little things that put visual accents in our express repair. We also purchased a new white trash can and black yorsh. They played on contrasts, so to speak.

Financial expenses for such cheap and angry repairs amounted to UAH 2,200. This is the cost of self-adhesive panels for walls and floors, primer and water emulsion for walls and ceilings, a handful of self-tapping screws, shelf fasteners, flavor, artificial plant, bucket and yorsh. Shelves remained after making a cabinet to order. Therefore, if you use another material, you can set a conditional 300-400 UAH.

The time was spent five nights as we worked after working about three or four hours. The result – is visually good refreshing of the appearance of the toilet, and a pretty grandparent.
