After watching the movie "Perfect Days", I felt a true inspiration that stayed with me for several days.
This film really made me refocus on how I perceive everyday moments and why it's worth paying attention to the little things that surround us.

The film (available on MEGOGO by subscription), directed by Wim Wenders, tells the story of Hirayama, a cleaner in Tokyo, whose job, although seemingly monotonous, reveals to him the beauty even in the simplest things. Some may find the film boring and drawn out, but personally, I didn't feel that way - it was a push towards understanding the flow of time and the necessity to stop and look around.
Here is the trailer for this film:
I realized that I want to capture these simple moments through the lens of a camera. Not through complicated settings, but by preserving the moment without additional embellishments. It's the perfect way to slow down time and immerse yourself in the warmth of those moments that usually disappear so quickly. Plus, the vibe of film shooting has something cool about it.
This hobby adds a kind of ritual to your daily life, which was wonderfully illustrated in the film. It consists of several stages, each of which brings new emotions and sensations:- choose film / buy film- shoot the film, focusing on something interesting- develop the film- scan (get a digital version of the photo)- print if desired
And here, perhaps, the greatest excitement lies in the fact that you don't know what the shots will turn out like and what photos you will receive. It's a kind of game with the unknown. If you shoot the film and scan the photos, say, once a quarter, you might even forget what exactly was shot. And then every new scan is like a surprise that allows you to relive moments that have long become part of your everyday life.
Of course, film is not cheap now, but for some, this fact can become a pleasant side effect - after all, every frame on film gains special value when you understand that each shot is not just a button press, but a meaningful moment that deserves attention.
Ідеальні дні (Perfect days - 2023) Olympus Mju 1
Hirayama uses the Olympus Mju 1 camera in the film, which, judging by comments online, is quite popular among hipsters and film photography enthusiasts. It costs (used) from 80 to 200 dollars.
I decided to start with slightly more budget-friendly cameras. I bought a few cheap point-and-shoots on OLX to play around with them and figure out all the nuances before moving on to something more expensive.
Initially, I had the idea of buying a yellow Kodak m35, but then I returned to the thought of cheap cameras from OLX.
The next posts will be about cameras, film, terms, and all that.
In the post, all images are frames from the movie.
