Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced the date for the western release of Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters — the new game based on the manga and anime by Yoichi Takahashi is already available for pre-order, with the release scheduled for August 28.

The title will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Along with the announcement, a new trailer was shown, featuring "Super Action Soccer Gameplay" — the series' signature focus on spectacular football moves and special techniques.

In addition to the standard edition, the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition are available for digital pre-order. They include the base game, a season pass, a bonus DLC pack, and several additional DLC Character Packs.

The Deluxe Edition includes three character packs, while the Ultimate Edition contains the base game, Ultimate Pack, season pass, and the same three DLC Character Packs.

In CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS, players will go through the qualifying stage with Tsubasa Ozora and his team, after which they will move on to the intense World Youth Championship.

Along the way, there will be matches against the national teams of Thailand, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and China, followed by confrontations with Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, Cameroon, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Bandai Namco also notes that the gameplay has been significantly updated: it now builds on chains of spectacular actions, and during passes, dribbling, ball steals, and blocks, special techniques can be used. The goalkeeping system has also become more tactical: in the duel between the goalkeeper and the striker, both sides can counterattack and fend off super shots.

The music is once again composed by Tadayoshi Makino, who also worked on the previous game in the series. For the new title, over 80 new tracks have been prepared.
