The official English release of the light novel by Seven Seas Entertainment describes the plot as follows: Ayanokouji and his classmates begin their second year of study and face new exams and new first-year students.
The first special exam combines first-year and second-year students in a written test, but if the team fails, only the second-year students are at risk of expulsion. Moreover, one of the new first-year students seems to also come from the White Room.
