In the previous post, I wrote about how I quickly made a holder for a 3kg filament spool (from joker furniture hardware). The stand technically works, but to improve printing, friction needs to be reduced, and it should be prevented from getting caught and stopping rotation.
On makerworld, there are many different options for spool holders of the size I need. First, I decided to try a holder that:
prints on one plate
does not require bearings (too lazy to search / buy)
Here is the link to the model. In the reviews on makerworld, I saw real photos from a user with the PrintArmy logo on their avatar. So +1 to trust in this model was added (but there is a nuance).
I have PETG Military Edge filament (3kg).
ширина катушки ~105мм
висота ~266мм
Spool dimensions:
width: 105mm
height: 266mm
I printed the spool holder, started measuring the spool...
The design is a couple of millimeters smaller than needed for this spool. I printed this holder thinking it had some height and width reserve and everything would be fine.
In fact, the Military Edge spool just stands in this design. It rotates, of course, if pulled. But we need to reduce friction so that the printer can properly pull the filament.
Time and filament were spent on this thing. So it was decided to modify it. Zip ties came to the rescue:
The zip ties provided the necessary few millimeters for the spool to hang. And it seems that the holder rotates better on 4 zip ties than without them (smaller friction area).
Regarding the review that I fell for. It seems they also added something (*°ー°)ノ
