While browsing reels on Instagram for ideas, we stumbled upon an interesting and unconventional recipe for "protein" pizza. Why protein? Because instead of a flour base, it usesβ¦ chicken mince! In the video description, the author mentioned that itβs a real protein bomb. An interesting solution was to use honey and sriracha to enhance the flavors. We couldn't stay away and had to try recreating this recipe in our kitchen. What we ended up with, traditionally, with a list of ingredients and photos of all stages β we will tell and show you further.
Difficulty: 2 out of 5
Time spent: 45-60 min
Cost: average
We will need:
500 g chicken fillet
70-100 g parmesan
2 medium chicken eggs
dried garlic
seasoning βItalian herbsβ (dry mixture of dishes)
salt, black ground pepper
100-150 g hard cheese (to your taste, the main thing is that it melts well)
150 g salami or any dried or smoked sausage
tomato sauce
Β we made the tomato sauce ourselves, so we needed an additional list of products:Β
2 tomatoes,Β
1 large clove of garlic,Β
2 tablespoons of concentrated tomato paste,Β
dried mixture of Italian herbsΒ
a little olive oil for frying
sriracha
honey
Preparation
We beat the eggs. We grate the parmesan on a fine grater. We mix these products together with the mince, add the dry mixture of βItalian herbs,β dried garlic, salt, and pepper to taste.
We spread the mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (from our own experience, we recommend using silicone-coated paper, as the mixture won't stick during baking). We level it with a spatula and place it in the oven at 230 degrees for 30 minutes.
During this time, we can prepare the filling. Itβs simple: you need to slice the sausage as thinly as possible and grate the cheese. Or buy everything already grated/sliced.
We simmer on medium heat for 10-15 minutes, after which we add concentrated tomato paste, salt, pepper, Italian herbs, and a little water. We evaporate it to the desired thick consistency.
For spiciness, you can add a little sriracha to this tomato sauce, which we did.We take the minced base out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
We spread the prepared tomato sauce on it, leveling it evenly. We place the sausage all over the surface and sprinkle with cheese. We drizzle our pizza with sriracha (very thin stream) and honey.
We send it back to the oven for another 10 minutes at 230 degrees
We take it out and enjoy!
