The Japanese pop-rock duo Ikimonogakari has released a music video for their 39th single song "Sayonara Lara." This composition has become the opening for the summer anime Goodbye, Lara.

The current members of Ikimonogakari are Yoshiki Mizuno, who plays guitar and piano, and vocalist Kiyoe Yoshioka. In a comment for the official anime website, the band noted that they worked on the song based on the theme of choosing one's own path, encounters, farewells, and inner determination.

The digital release of "Sayonara Lara" took place on July 15, and the CD single is set to be released in Japan on August 26, 2026.

The anime adaptation of Goodbye, Lara premiered in Japan on July 5, 2026. The director is Takushi Koide, and the production is handled by Kinema Citrus. The character design is by Shiori Tani, the series composition is by Anna Kawahara, and the music is by yuma yamaguchi.

Crunchyroll is streaming Goodbye, Lara for subscribers worldwide, except for Japan and China, and describes the plot as follows: once, the mermaid princess Lara fell in love with a human prince, drank a magical potion to become human, and now has one last chance to find true love to avoid disappearing forever.
