Square Enix revealed a new look at The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales — an HD-2D style action-RPG set to release on PlayStation 5 June 18, 2026. In the fresh preview, the developers talked about the early part of Elliot and Fai's adventures, as well as what players can expect in the demo.
At this stage, the duo has already united and passed through the Doorway of Time — the "Gateway of Time," which transports them to the Age of Reconstruction, that is, the era of rebuilding, 250 years into the past. There, they find themselves in the village of Littlehope, where people survive with meager resources and weak defenses. Ahead of Elliot and Fai lies a dangerous world, similar to their native era of Safekeeping, but with noticeable differences.
Dungeons, Weapons, and Bosses
One of the main locations in the demo is the Doorway Ruins in the eastern part of Philabieldia. This dungeon features platforming, puzzles, encounters with beastmen, and treasures. Here, players can find a new powerful sword for Elliot, which will be needed in the battle against a boss named Tag Guardians.
In this battle, players will need to defeat the Greatsword Guardian and the Great Bow Guardian. The former attacks quickly and aggressively, using a large sword with surprisingly long reach, while the latter keeps its distance and shoots from afar. In the demo, Elliot has access to all seven types of weapons, allowing players to choose a comfortable fighting style — from a hammer-axe with a powerful charged attack to a boomerang that works at range. Players can also adjust magicite settings to tailor the combat system to their liking.
Fai the Fairy, Fast Travel, and Cats
Separately, the developers showcased a new ability for Fai. If players find the Shrine of the Mystic, she will learn the Warp ability, which allows Elliot to teleport to her position. This will be useful both for puzzles and for avoiding enemy attacks. In the demo, players can also freely use fast travel between already unlocked points in both available eras.
Among the additional content is cat collecting — yes, cats are scattered throughout the world that need to be found for a traveler who loves them. Various rewards are promised for this. When players want to take a break from adventures, they can launch Faie’s Magic Lessons from the menu — a series of mini-games. Among them, the developers particularly highlight a sprint mini-game where players must race down an icy mountain, escaping from an avalanche. Completing these mini-games unlocks records that allow players to listen to the in-game soundtrack.
