At the launch of 007 First Light, players on PlayStation 5 Pro will receive an updated PSSR as the standard upscaler. This is a machine learning technology from Sony that reproduces clearer and more stable images from lower internal resolutions.
At IO Interactive, they say the results were noticeable almost immediately. After implementing the new version of PSSR, the image in the game became cleaner, more stable, and sharper, especially in complex scenes.
Clearer Image and Less Flickering
The updated PSSR improves image quality throughout the game: from dense vegetation in open locations to close-ups of characters in story scenes. The difference is most noticeable where regular upscalers struggle with details.
The technology significantly reduces flickering and graphic noise, making the image look calmer and more cohesive. PSSR also maintains better stability in motion: when the camera moves quickly or the player runs between cover, objects do not break apart into fragments.
Separately, IO Interactive noted better reconstruction of hair, fabrics, and other small elements that are crucial for a game focused on character presentation.
