MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will soon receive an open beta. Both those who have seen the closed tests from last year and newcomers will be able to play.

The testing will last for 72 hours and will start on July 24 at 00:00 Pacific Time. The beta will end on July 26 at 23:59 PT. In Ukraine, this will already be July 27 at 07:59 British Time and 15:59 Japanese Time.

The open beta will be available on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. No registration is required: just download the game from your platform's store and jump into battle. Pre-loading will be available two hours before the test starts.

A PlayStation Plus subscription is not required. However, an internet connection and a PlayStation account will be needed for access on PS5 and PC.

During the open beta, 15 out of 20 heroes and villains announced for release will be available. Among them is Blade, who will be a playable character for the first time.

Players will also be able to fight on six recognizable arenas inspired by Marvel locations: Marvel's New York (Day), Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere, Wakanda, and Marvel's New York (Night).

In addition to online matches, the beta will open several other modes and features. Casual Match and Ranked Match will be available: the former is suitable for quick fights with roughly equal opponents, while the latter is for competitive matches and climbing the ranking ladder.

For local play, there will be Versus Mode — you can challenge friends on one device or practice against the CPU. Another important part of the test is Open Lobby, a shared hub between battles with miniature versions of game arenas, avatars, chat, ready messages, stickers, and emotes.

Newcomers will be offered Start Up Battle — an interactive tutorial that introduces the basic mechanics of 4v4 combat, team systems, and allows players to try their skills in a trial match. There will also be a Training Mode for practicing characters, combos, and training scenario settings.

For the first time during the open beta, Episode Mode will also be available. Players will be able to go through the first three chapters of the Amazing Guardians story, where Spider-Man gathers a team to face a mysterious threat looming over Earth. The story is presented in a motion-comic format, which combines with dynamic battles.

The beta will also showcase the final localization: voice acting and text will be available in American English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. Only the text will include British English, Arabic, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, and Traditional Chinese.

PlayStation states that after the closed beta, the game received a number of changes based on community feedback: developers adjusted gameplay, mechanics, and various elements of the experience to make the tag fighter more accessible and interesting.
