Summer is the time for travel and new experiences. Vacation, business trips, weekends out of town — frequent companions of the warm season. When planning a trip, a caring hostess immediately thinks about what to eat on the road or take with her for a picnic, to the beach, or on a long walk with children. The product should be convenient for transportation, portioned, with minimal likelihood of making a mess, and tasty. Today we talk about main dish recipes that can simultaneously be a snack and a full meal.

Ossetian Pies

Ossetian pies are tender dough, appetizing aroma, juicy filling, and rich taste. We suggest you use boiled potatoes and canned sardines for the filling. But you can use your imagination and choose your own option that you like the most.
For the dough, you will need:
  • premium wheat flour — 500 g;
  • dry "Lviv Yeast" — 8 g;
  • salt — 7 g;
  • sugar — 10 g;
  • milk — 360 ml;
  • butter – 50 g.

Add salt, sugar, and butter to warm milk. In a deep bowl, mix flour and yeast, add the liquid mixture to them, and mix thoroughly. You will need to knead an elastic dough and let it rise twice for 30 minutes. If necessary, add a little flour so that the mixture does not stick to your hands, but does not become too dense. Divide the finished dough into three equal parts.
Meanwhile, prepare the filling — mix 550 g of boiled potatoes, 3 cans of canned sardines, 2 fried onions, 1 chicken egg, 10 g of butter, and spices to taste. Divide the resulting mass into 3 equal parts and form balls from them.
From the dough, make circles with a diameter of 18-20 cm, place the filling in the center, and cover it with the free edge, pinching tightly in the middle. Now you need to carefully shape the pie with a diameter of 25-30 cm. Don't forget to leave a hole in the center so that steam can escape while baking. Send the form to a preheated oven at 220 degrees for 15 minutes. Let the finished pies cool and enjoy with your favorite sauce or drink.

Pies with Savory Fillings

You need to mix the dry ingredients:
  • 600 g of wheat flour;

Separately, prepare a mixture of 200 g of warm milk or water, 90 g of softened butter, and 3 chicken eggs. Add the resulting mass to the dry ingredients and prepare a soft elastic dough. Divide it into balls of 50 grams, cover them with a towel, and leave for 15 minutes in a warm place without drafts.
Roll out the dough, place the filling inside (meat, vegetable, fish, cheese, boiled eggs, and green onions) and shape the pie into your favorite form of small thickness. Let them rest for 10-15 minutes and send them to a preheated pan. Fry in refined oil until golden brown on both sides. When the pies cool, enjoy them with tea, first courses, or sour cream.
