The Ghost in the Shell has received a new trailer, showcasing fresh footage from the new adaptation of the cult cyberpunk manga by Masamune Shirow. At the same time, the start of the television broadcast in Japan has been confirmed for tonight.
The anime is directed by Moko-chan, known as the assistant director of DAN DA DAN, and produced by Science SARU studio. The series composition and script are handled by Tow Ubukata, character design and chief animation direction are done by Shugei Handa, and the music is created by Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and YUKI KANESAKA.
When the series will be released and where to watch it
The premiere of The Ghost in the Shell is scheduled for July 7 in Japan. After airing, the series will also be available for viewing on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.
What the new adaptation is about
The action unfolds in 2029 in the near future of Japan, where the world has become extremely dependent on information networks. The story focuses on Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg who leads an elite combat unit alongside Batou.
According to the official description, the unit gradually transforms into Public Security Section 9, also known as Shell Squad, and begins to counter complex cybercrimes and international conspiracies. A mysterious hacker named Puppet Master also appears on the horizon.
