Infinity Ward is preparing a new multiplayer mode called Kill Block for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. This dynamic combat space for training features modular sections of the map that are rebuilt before each match, creating hundreds of variations of cover placements, pathways, and lines of sight.
Kill Block takes place at the West Bridge Training Facility. The initial version of the mode will support both 3v3 Gunfight and a new 10v10 Gunfight, with over 500 possible map configurations promised in total.
How the map works
The foundation of Kill Block consists of three modular sections: two outer End Slabs and a central Central Slab. These are combined with each other between matches, and sometimes even after individual rounds of Gunfight. Some of these blocks are new, while others are inspired by recognizable locations from the Modern Warfare series, including Crash, Storage Town, and Shoot House.
When all three sections are connected, the playable space is approximately the size of Shoot House from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. To help players orient themselves quickly, the map features section markers and painted signs that assist in reading the space during combat.
Not just terrain, but also weather
In Kill Block, not only the map layout changes, but also the weather. Some sections have weather simulators with powerful fans that blow rain and snow across the arena. Weather effects also impact weapons: water and ice particles accumulate on them until you switch weapons or reload.
What else will be available at the launch of Modern Warfare 4
Kill Block is just part of the multiplayer experience in Modern Warfare 4 at launch. The game will also feature 12 core maps in a 6v6 format, covering various corners of the world, as well as a full set of Core modes, their Hardcore versions, Party Modes, and large battles on expansive maps with combined vehicle and infantry combat. Two additional maps are promised after the release.
Modern Warfare 4 also utilizes the capabilities of the PS5 and PS5 Pro: adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, 3D audio, HDR, 4K, support for 120 Hz, VRR, Remote Play, and Low Energy Mode. On PS5 Pro, enhanced PSSR, higher graphics quality for 60 and 120 Hz, and unlocked frame rates with VRR and 120 Hz are additionally claimed. The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for October 23.
