We are printing a filter for filament purification.

I have a shelf with PETG filament that is covered in dust. Over the past few months, quite a bit of dust has accumulated. I decided to clean up and use these plastic leftovers. But it's quite dirty. So, the thread needs to be wiped. There are many model options on Makerworld - https://makerworld.com/uk/search/models?keyword=filament+cleaner Most of them are clamps for a piece of sponge. I chose a model with magnets (because I just bought a couple of dozen 6×3 magnets and wanted to use them somewhere).

Everything is clear here. We download, we print.

Also everything is clear. But don't confuse the sides of the magnets. I'm not very careful, so there was glue everywhere.

It works:

We cut pieces from a new regular kitchen sponge and simply insert them tightly. No glue is needed.

Well, that's it. Does it work? Yes. After printing dirty leftovers (~400 grams), the sponge looks like this:

Will I always use this filter? No. There is a risk that the sponge will be pulled into the extruder (I've seen such cases online).  So I plan to use it only under supervision and only in cases where I know the filament is really dirty.
