Sony Music announced that the seventh single by Kenshi Yonezu — "Peace Sign" — received an official gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This song served as the first opening theme for the second course of the second season of My Hero Academia in 2017.

RIAA awards gold and platinum certifications based on sales in the USA. Gold status is granted to tracks that surpass 500,000 units sold.

For Kenshi Yonezu, this is already the third RIAA award for a song with Japanese lyrics. In August 2023, his song "KICK BACK" — the opening for the anime Chainsaw Man — received a gold certification, and in September 2025, it was awarded platinum certification.

"Peace Sign" was released in Japan on June 21, 2017, as Yonezu's seventh single and reached second place in the Oricon weekly chart. The music video for the song on the artist's official YouTube channel has already surpassed 330 million views.
