On September 22, Dune: Awakening will be released on PlayStation 5. This is an open-world survival game set in the world of Arrakis, where players are invited to build, craft, explore, and follow a storyline that poses the question: what if Paul Atreides had never been born?

The game has been available on PC since last year, and the console release will bring not only all the developments during this time but also a new full-fledged single-player mode. The PlayStation 5 version is set to be the most complete one to date.

The developers have adapted the interface and controls for the console format and have worked separately on optimization for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. On the base PS5, the performance mode will run at 60 frames per second with frame-gen, while on PS5 Pro — at 60 frames per second without frame-gen. The quality mode on both systems will be 30 fps.

The game will run in upscaled 4K on both consoles, in performance and quality modes. The developers also emphasize that Dune: Awakening has been made more accessible for entry into the survival genre: it won't be easier, but the learning curve is smoother, and the storyline helps players get immersed in the game.

The biggest innovation for players on PS5 is the full-fledged single-player mode. On PC, the game still operates only in multiplayer, so for the new version, the team had to rebuild many systems to ensure everything works without other players.

Additionally, the game will feature a wide range of difficulty settings: players can speed up resource gathering or even turn off the sandworm. Besides the digital release, a physical edition is also being prepared. In Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, it will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, while in North and South America — by Solutions 2 GO. A release is also planned in Japan, but the publisher will be announced later.
