Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive its final free update on June 16 for PS5. It will add a concluding story mission where Naoe and Yasuke will confront a mysterious pair of Templars, as well as several narrative connections to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Separately, the game will introduce new endgame content called Domains. This mode is for those who enjoy leveling up builds and testing them in more challenging trials.

According to associate game director Simon Lemieux-Komua, Domains is a new activity that "breaks" the usual rules of the Animus and places parts of Shadows in a more fantastical context. The mode is designed as a sort of final exam for players who enjoy the RPG elements of the game.

There will be five maps, and each time players will face different modifiers. Because of this, they will need to adjust their build to the map, conditions, and set of complications.

On each map, players must defeat a Daisho, after which an arena with the final boss will open. There, players will battle one of three distorted, altered Animus bosses, while also considering the effects of the modifiers.

At lower difficulty levels, the conditions will be milder, but as the game progresses, it will start to apply more negative effects. To partially negate the modifiers, players can use Animus Exploits, but a weak build and failed skills will still quickly make their presence known.

In Domains, players will be able to use equipment from the main game, and anything created within the mode will also transfer to the main title. At the same time, Animus Exploits will only work here. Among the rewards will be unique weapons and gear for Domains that cannot be obtained in any other way.

Additionally, the developer advises not to ignore Yasuke: many players have invested in Naoe, but in certain cases, Yasuke may be the only right choice. The final update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is already available for free download on PS5.
