For Granblue Fantasy: Relink, a major expansion Endless Ragnarok is being prepared, which will be released on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on Thursday, July 9. During the press event, journalists were able to see the new mechanics in action and play an early version of the content.
For those who are just getting acquainted with the title, a demo version of the main Granblue Fantasy: Relink is already available in the PlayStation Store.
New Arc, Characters, and Summon System
Endless Ragnarok adds a new story arc to the game, six new playable characters, more challenging quests, a Master Trait progression tree, and a separate single-player endgame mode Conflux.
The roster will be joined by Gallanza, Maglielle, Beatrix, Eustace, Fraux, and Fediel. Players will also encounter new bosses, including Beelzebub and The World.
The main novelty is the Summon system: summoned creatures can be equipped, obtained through story progression, and called upon during battle, temporarily taking control of them. While the summon is active, the character becomes completely invulnerable, making the mechanic work both as an offensive tool and a way to survive the most dangerous boss hits.
Another combat innovation is Primal Burst. If the team performs a full series of Skybound Arts under certain conditions, Lyria will deliver a powerful finishing attack through the summon.
Chaos, New Summons, and Solo Conflux Mode
During the demo, players were given a chance to try the highest difficulty level Chaos, which unlocks right at the start of the new arc. At this level, particularly dangerous enemies appear, including ragnalia, and bosses use the EX Burst attack. If the boss's body glows with a purple aura, it is a sign that the attack is about to happen.
Two summons were showcased separately — Furycane and Managarmr. The former focuses on quick slashes and tornado combinations, while the latter is slower but covers the field with a fierce blizzard at the end of its action and applies the Glaciate effect, which freezes enemies.
New characters Gallanza and Beatrix have also appeared in the game. Gallanza is a heavy fighter with wide spear-halberd attacks, while Beatrix is a technical heroine who requires constant switching between offensive, defensive, and restorative buffs right during combat.
A separate solo mode Conflux has been created for those who do not want to seek matchmaking in multiplayer. In it, players must progress through zones sequentially, complete objectives, and choose one of three temporary bonuses after each zone. The goal of the mode is to advance deeper while collecting resources and equipment. Tasks and bonuses change randomly with each playthrough.
