Tweet <TAG1> is a short message that is published on a social network Twitter (now renamed to X). Tweets may contain text, images, videos, links or surveys. Originally, the maximum length of the tweet was 140 characters, but since 2017 it has been increased to 280 characters.
Tweets are often used for:
exchange of news or opinions;
conducting public discussions;
communicating with the audience or subscribers;
quick response to events.
Twitter, which was renamed X in 2023 after the company was acquired by Elon Musk, is a microblogging social network founded in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Bees Stone and Evan Williams. This platform allows users to post short messages — tweets, limited to 280 characters, and view and interact with others' posts in real time. Twitter has become popular due to its openness —, most tweets are public, so even those without an account can view them. Features like using hashtags to merge tweets by topic, mentioning other users through the "@" symbol, the ability to retweet, like, and directly correspond in personal messages, made the platform very convenient for public discussions, news sharing, and personal communication. With the change of ownership, Twitter acquired a new look and functionality — in particular, the logo was changed to the letter "X", a paid subscription to X Premium appeared, and attention to video, finance and artificial intelligence increased. Today, X is actively used to discuss current events, political activities, marketing, professional communication, entertainment and even to distribute memes, because this platform is one of the most dynamic information networks in the world.
Blue tick on Twitter (now X) — it is an icon profile verification, which indicates that the account is authentic and belongs to the person or organization for which it claims to be. Previously, this mark was only given to famous people, journalists, government officials, brands and other public figures after a thorough inspection.
However, after Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, the verification system was radically changed. Now anyone can get a blue check markwho will issue a paid subscription X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue). This means that it no longer guarantees the social significance or credibility of the individual, but rather indicates the existence of an active paid subscription.
As part of this subscription, users, in addition to the check mark itself, get access to advanced features: the ability to edit tweets, publish longer posts, priority in response and search, monetize content, etc. The check mark can be blue for individual users, gold — for business, and gray — for government structures and official organizations.
