I am not an expert in cameras, but when I decided to buy my first mirrorless camera, I looked for the best option based on reviews and recommendations. My goal was to find something within 600 euros, and after long deliberation, I chose the Sony Alpha ZV-E10. I purchased it before the New Year at a discount for 550 euros, and it came with a carrying bag and a 16-50 mm kit lens.

Why did I choose this camera?

Firstly, it received many positive reviews, especially among bloggers and beginners in photography and videography. Secondly, this is a mirrorless camera with a crop sensor (APS-C) at 24.2 MP, which means good image quality while remaining lightweight and compact. Thirdly, I liked the convenient flip screen, which makes it ideal for "selfie" shooting, as well as the fast autofocus with face and eye tracking.

My user experience

Since I am not a professional in photography, it was important for me that the camera was intuitive to use. In this regard, the Sony ZV-E10 did not disappoint. I quickly figured out the basic settings, and the autofocus and built-in modes helped me achieve clear and high-quality photos even without deep knowledge of exposure or aperture.

16-50 mm lens: what can you shoot?

The kit included a 16-50 mm kit lens – a standard option for beginners. It is quite compact and lightweight, convenient for travel.
  • At 16 mm, you can capture landscapes and architecture well, as the wide angle allows for many details to fit in the frame.
  • At 50 mm, you can get nice portraits with a slight background blur. Of course, it is not on par with fixed portrait lenses, but the result is still pleasing.
  • For videography, this lens is also suitable, especially considering the built-in stabilization (OSS), which helps smooth out micro-movements when shooting handheld.

What did I like?

Photo quality – the detail is good, especially in good lighting. Even in low light, you can get decent shots.
Video capabilities – 4K support without crop, good autofocus, excellent sound recording.
Light and compact – compared to DSLR cameras, it is much easier to carry.
Fast autofocus – especially cool that it tracks eyes and faces, which is useful for portraits and videos.

What didn't I like?

No built-in stabilization – if you plan to shoot a lot of videos, it is advisable to have a stabilizer or use a lens with good stabilization.
Battery life – the battery is not very durable, so if you shoot a lot, it's better to have a spare battery.
For someone who is just starting to dive into the world of photography and videography, Sony Alpha ZV-E10 is a great choice. It is lightweight, easy to operate, provides quality images and videos, and has excellent autofocus. If you are looking for a camera for content creation, travel, or just beautiful shots, this option is definitely worth considering.
For 550 euros, I got a good camera, a lens, and a bag included – and so far, I have not regretted my choice even once. 🚀
