I decided to supplement the blog with notes about the experience of using EcoFlow with various devices due to its high relevance. Yesterday I wrote about the operating time of the refrigerator from the charging station. Today we will talk about the kettle.
Can the EcoFlow River 2 Pro boil water in an electric kettle?
If briefly - yes. But how long will it take, and what percentage of the charge will be used for this? Will X-Boost be used?First about the kettle - I have a simple electric kettle Delfa, which has a power rating of 1500 Watts.
Delfa 1500W
Can a kettle with a power of 1500 Watts start on a charging station that has an output of 800 Watts and X-Boost up to 1600 Watts? The answer is yes. But there is a nuance. I expected the X-Boost to work (some articles from the internet and responses from chat gpt mentioned this). I quote:
A kettle with a power of 1500 Watts can start on a charging station with an output of 800 Watts and X-Boost up to 1600 Watts. The X-Boost function allows temporarily increasing the output power to 1600 Watts, which will be sufficient to start your kettle.
But the reality is different! We check everything empirically (don't trust the robots he-he). The kettle started, but the EcoFlow River 2 Pro was giving it ~800 Watts. There was no hint of X-Boost. The X-Boost function itself is enabled. The same story happened with the hair dryer (I had already forgotten about it).
So the kettle works. The water starts to heat up. The station outputs 800 Watts. The station is charged to 100%. There is 1.5 liters of cold water from the tap in the kettle.

How long did it take to heat one and a half liters of water?
In my case, it took 10 minutes and 15 seconds. But in winter, it may take more time and energy because the water in the tap will be colder than it is now in summer (anomalous heat and all that).
How much charge was used?
The EcoFlow display shows that in 10 minutes we used 25% of the charge to heat 1.5 liters of water at an output power of 800 Watts

Regarding the feasibility of using a relatively small (768Wh) charging station for heating water - think for yourself. Personally, I believe it is better to use this energy for lighting the room, charging gadgets, etc. In a few days, I will try to test a camping stove and a gas cylinder for heating water (maybe this will be a good alternative to this option, but we will see).
